The project implemented by Oranfresh s.r.l., a Catania-based company and leader in the fresh juice vending machine sector, was funded through Call 3.1.1_02a of the PO FESR Sicily 2014–2020, with the aim of strengthening the company’s competitiveness and technological innovation.
Objectives
• Enhance the internal prototyping and production phase through the acquisition of silicone molds for rapid prototyping and steel molds for full-scale manufacturing;
• Consolidate the production organization with dedicated structural equipment;
• Modernize company systems, ensuring energy efficiency and safety.
Implemented activities
• Design and acquisition of silicone and steel molds, enabling a quick transformation of ideas into pre-series and production components;
• Construction of a metal mold-holder structure, supporting internal logistics and the innovative management of production cycles;
• Installation of a photovoltaic system, contributing to significant energy savings and reduced environmental impact;
• Implementation of security systems, including burglar alarms, video surveillance, and new lighting, to improve workplace safety and conditions;
• Upgrading of the wastewater management system, with interventions tailored to industrial processes;
• Renovation of company premises and complete overhaul of electrical, plumbing, and technological systems.
Achieved results
• Clear acceleration of the development and production cycle, from concept to final product;
• Reduction in production line start-up times thanks to efficient molds and dedicated structures;
• Increased energy independence and reduced operational costs through the use of solar energy;
• Strengthened safety measures and environmental quality, ensuring proper levels of operations and monitoring;
• Improved working conditions and clear structural growth, reinforcing Oranfresh’s role as an innovative business in Sicily.
In summary, the PO FESR resources supported a comprehensive upgrade process, making Oranfresh more efficient, modern, and sustainable, ready to face global market challenges with a high-value product entirely “Made in Catania.”
